Glasses get lost two ways: loose at the bottom of a bag, where they get scratched, or set down somewhere and forgotten. The Parker answers both. It is an open-top sleeve — the glasses come out with one hand, nothing to unclasp — and it comes with a 40 cm strap that clips to the ring at the top, so it hangs instead of being set down.
The leather
Smooth Argentine cowhide, worked by hand in Buenos Aires. It is a small piece and it gets used every day, so it ages quickly: within months the opening softens and takes the exact shape of the glasses that live inside. The name is blind-embossed at the bottom, with no plate and no hardware.
How it is made
Two layers of leather stitched at the edge, the stitching left visible in a contrasting tone. The top corner is curved and follows the line of the frame, so the opening sits lower on one side and the glasses can be taken by the arm without a struggle. At the top, a leather tab with a metal ring. The strap is doubled leather with a snap and a lobster clasp: take it off when it is in the way.
Living with it
17 cm tall, 7 wide and 3 deep, 100 grams. It takes ordinary frames and most sunglasses. Without the strap it stands upright in the inside pocket of a handbag; with it, it hangs from the neck or clips to a bag handle. This is a sleeve, not a hard case: it protects against rubbing and scratches, not against a knock.
