On a glove the gauge of the leather decides what it is for: thick keeps you warmer and gives less feel, fine lets you sense what you are holding. That is why the line runs from one end to the other rather than repeating one cut across sizes.

Your size is the circumference of your palm in inches. If you land between two, take the smaller: the leather gives with wear.
