Two bags can measure the same and not hold the same. The Prudence is 20 centimetres wide by 18 high, like any small bag, but the body is a half circle: the widest part is in the middle, not at the top. That is where bulky things go in upright —a glasses case, a bottle, a thick wallet— that in a rectangle of the same size would have to lie on their side.
The leather
Cowhide in several finishes. Smooth is the one that shows the curve cleanest, with nothing to interrupt it. Embossed carries the pattern pressed in relief into the leather itself; long grain leaves the stretched grain on show; and printed carries the design printed on the leather, which is where the model steps away from the sober. In all of them, the name is blind-embossed on the front.
The build
A half-circle body with a flat base and a closed arc. The zip runs the whole arc, from one end of the base to the other: it doesn't just open at the top, it opens from side to side and the whole interior is visible at once. Inside, a 9 × 10 cm open pocket for small things. The strap is a leather wristlet that clips onto a ring at one corner, next to where the zip starts.
In use
20 cm wide, 18 cm high and 7 cm deep, 250 grams. A wallet, a phone, keys, a glasses case and the day's things go in, all upright thanks to the seven centimetres of depth. What doesn't fit is a tablet or an A5 notebook standing up: the 18 cm of height is the limit. Carry it in the hand or hanging from the wrist — the strap is short and doesn't go over the shoulder.
