Most large bags come in one size. This one comes in two. Each side carries a zip with a leather gusset: closed, the bag draws in and keeps its line; open, it widens and takes whatever the day requires. The same bag solving two different days.
The leather
It is the same Argentine cowhide in two finishes. Smooth, almost without texture, where the light runs across the whole panel. And embossed, with the grain pressed into it, which hides wear and ages more evenly. The shape is identical in both; what changes is how it looks and how it feels in the hand.
How it is made
The body is built from vertical panels on a wide base, which is why it stands even when lightly packed. The mouth is generous and relaxes as it opens. It carries two straps, the right length to hold in the hand or move to the shoulder without adjusting anything. Inside, a zipped pocket of 18 × 12 and an open one of 15 × 24, to keep the small things apart from the ones you reach for constantly.
Living with it
37 cm wide, 31 tall and 10 deep, and 750 grams empty. An A4 folder stands upright inside, along with a notebook and a bottle. This is an everyday bag that puts up with being overloaded — that is what the gussets are for.
