An open 37 cm tote has a well-known problem: everything sits loose and in plain view. This one comes with the answer inside — a zipped leather pouch, in the same leather as the bag, for whatever you would rather not rummage through or put on display.
The leather
Argentine cowhide in three finishes: smooth, embossed and suede. And it is lined in leather, which almost nothing is — fabric lining is the norm. You notice it when you open the bag, and you notice it years later, when a fabric lining is the first thing to go.
How it is made
The top stays open, with no fastening: your hand goes in and out without ceremony, which is the whole point of a tote. The two slim handles are knotted to the mouth, the right length for the hand or over the shoulder. The sides are gathered, so it fans open when loaded and flattens when it is not. The pouch measures 20 × 16 × 10 and stands inside without eating into the width.
Living with it
37 cm wide by 22 tall and 13 deep, 600 grams empty — one of the largest bags in the range, and one of the lightest for its size. If you want something that closes, the Serbia has a full-length zip; if you want it smaller, the Cartagena is structured and 21 cm across.
