The Nairobi has no zip: it has straps that do the work. They run through metal eyelets on the top edge, and when you lift the bag they pull on the opening and gather it. Set down, it falls open and shows everything inside.
The leather
Cowhide with a natural grain, in a single piece around the body. It is a leather that drapes: it is not meant to hold a rigid box shape but to take the shape of what you carry, which is why the Nairobi never looks the same full as empty.
The build
A tall bucket body with an oval base and sides that open upwards. Two slim leather straps run along the top edge through the eyelets: they are the handle and the closure at the same time. No extra hardware, no visible lining, nothing to break the line.
In use
28 cm wide, 34 cm high and 20 cm deep, 500 grams. The 20 cm of depth is what sets it apart: a folded light jacket, a bottle, a book and everything for the day go in without having to arrange anything. Carry it by hand or over the shoulder, depending on how far you let the strap run.
