The Texas is a flat cowhide messenger bag, just five centimetres deep. To make that work, it spreads what you carry across four pockets — two outside and two inside, each with its own place — so nothing ends up loose at the bottom.
The leather
Smooth cowhide, matte and even. It is the finish that hides least: there is no grain or emboss to disguise a mark, so use shows and care shows. Over time the flap takes a shine exactly where your hand lifts it every day. The Casa Lopez name is blind-embossed on the flap: the only ornament on the model.
How it's made
A rectangular body with a flap covering the front. Outside, two 15 × 14 cm zip pockets: one on the back, which sits against you when the bag is worn crossbody, and one under the flap. Inside, the main compartment adds one zip pocket and one open pocket, 15 × 12 cm, for your phone, keys and cards. A 110 cm leather shoulder strap with a length adjuster.
Living with it
30 cm wide, 25 high and 5 deep; it weighs 600 grams. It takes a tablet, an A5 notebook upright, a wallet and a phone. An A4 folder will not fit: it is about five centimetres short in height. Worn crossbody it stays flat against you, with no bulk under a coat.
