The trouble with small crossbodies is usually the opening: a straight zip along the top leaves a slot, and getting anything out means working your hand in sideways. On the Jenny the zip does not run straight — it follows the rounded corners and turns to come down the side, so the mouth opens on a curve and your hand goes in front-on.
The leather
Cowhide in three finishes. The smooth one is the plainest, and the one that shows the shape best, with nothing competing with the curve. The embossed one carries the pattern pressed into the same leather, with relief but no extra weight. And the patent one is smooth and glossy: the one that shows most at night, and the easiest to wipe clean.
The build
Body with rounded upper corners and a flat base, which lets it stand where you put it down. The zip runs along the top edge and turns at the curve to come down the side. Long adjustable strap on a buckle, held at the top by a riveted leather loop; from that loop hangs a padlock-shaped metal piece, the only ornament on the model. On the front, a small plate with the name.
In use
22 cm wide, 15 cm high and 7 cm deep, 400 grams empty. It takes a phone, a wallet, glasses in their case and keys, and the seven centimetres of depth are enough for them to stand up rather than stack. Worn crossbody, and the strap shortens on the buckle to sit on the shoulder.
The curve is not a drawing flourish: it is where your hand goes in.
