A flat crossbody has no room for internal pockets: five centimetres of depth get filled by what you carry, not by dividers. The Texas solves that on the outside. It has three ways in, at three depths — a zip pocket on the back, the flap at the front, and the closure at the top underneath it — so everything has its place without the inside being subdivided.
The leather
Smooth cowhide, matte and even. It is the finish that hides least: there is no grain or emboss to disguise a mark, so use shows and care shows. Over time the front of the flap takes a shine exactly where your hand lifts it every day. The Casa Lopez name is blind-embossed, large, across the flap: the only ornament on the model.
The build
Rectangular body with sharp corners and only five centimetres of depth. A large flap covers almost the whole front, reaches down to the base and closes there. Underneath it, the main compartment has its own closure at the top. On the back, a zip pocket you reach without opening anything — the one that sits against you when the bag is worn crossbody. Long, thin leather strap, adjustable on a buckle, held by two loops at the top corners.
In use
30 cm wide, 24 cm high and 5 cm deep. It takes a tablet, an A5 notebook upright, a wallet, a phone and glasses in their case. What it will not take is an A4 folder: it is nearly six centimetres short in height. And those five centimetres of depth are the point of the model — worn crossbody it stays flat against you, with no bulk under a coat.
