Pulling a card out of a leather sleeve takes two hands and a few seconds. The Cádiz solves that with a button: push it with your thumb and the six cards fan out, one behind the other, ready to pick without looking. It is the difference between searching and taking.
The leather
Argentine cowhide with a fine grain. On a piece ten centimetres tall the leather is taken in at a glance, so there is nowhere to hide a loose cut: the edges are sealed and the stitch runs right around. Inside it is the same leather, with the logo embossed on the slotted panel.
How it is made
It closes with a strap and stud that wraps around the spine. Inside it opens in two: the leather slots on the left, the metal case with its release tab on the right. Six compartments in all for cards and documents, plus a pocket for folded notes.
Contactless reading
The case is metal, and that is not only for the mechanism: it blocks the signal contactless cards use. A reader held near your pocket — what is known as RFID theft — cannot reach the cards inside. There is nothing to switch on: keeping them in there is enough.
Living with it
10 cm tall by 8 wide and 3 deep, 150 grams. It fits a jacket pocket and a back trouser pocket. Six cards in the case are the ones you actually use; notes go folded in the pocket — this is not a wallet and does not pretend to be one.
