The Melvin is the Richie in an easier size: 45 centimetres, enough for a long day without the weight of luggage. Carry it by hand by its two handles or, with the strap and its shoulder pad, on the shoulder with everything inside.
The leather
Argentine cowhide with a smooth, polished finish. Where the bag folds, the tone opens and lightens, and it comes back when released. With use it develops patina in the gusset folds and at the grip points. The edges are sealed and stitched. It is also made in hair-on cowhide: the body in hair-on and the flap, belt and handles in smooth cowhide, on the same pattern.
How it's made
A flap crossed by a strap with a metal turn lock, held at the sides with metal keepers. Two tubular handles stitched to the body. A 115 cm strap with a shoulder pad that clips onto the D-rings on the sides. Inside, a 30 × 15 cm zipped pocket. Folded side gussets that give it shape when empty and give way when full. Flat base.
Living with it
45 cm wide, 26 high and 15 deep, 1.3 kilos. It fits a laptop with the day's things, or clothes for one night. The turn lock asks for a deliberate gesture to open: it will not fall open resting on a car seat.
