The leather
Cowhide worked in Buenos Aires, with a pronounced grain. Unlike a soft portfolio, the Joey has body: it stands on its own on a desk and does not slump when empty. With use the leather softens at the corners, and that is when it starts to look worn in the good way.
The build
Horizontal rectangular body, slim profile. Angled zipper closure: it runs the full top edge and down the side, close to the base. Two short rolled handles, stitched to the front and back panels. Rounded corners on the zipper side. Completely flat front: no pockets, no buckles, no hardware in sight. The only relief is the Casa Lopez logo embossed at the centre, in the same colour as the leather.
In use
34 cm wide, 27 cm high and 7 cm deep, 500 grams. An A4 folder fits lying flat. A 13 or 14-inch laptop goes in comfortably; a 15-inch does not fit, because it is wider than the 34 cm. This is a portfolio for meetings and the office day: what you carry to a table, not what you carry on a trip.
