Most wallets are bought with more slots than will ever be used, just in case. The trouble is that an empty slot does not stay neutral: leather that is never stretched marks differently from leather that is, and two years on the inside is a map of what you were not carrying. The Eric has six, which is what fits in a pocket without bulking.
The leather
Argentine cowhide with a smooth finish. The inside is leather too, not fabric: the slots open and close thousands of times, and a synthetic lining ends up peeling away at the edge. Open it and you see the natural veining of the hide — two wallets from the same batch do not carry the same pattern.
The build
Bifold format, with no flaps or inner layers: three card slots on each side, and nothing else between the leather and your pocket. Behind them, two full-length bill compartments and two flat pockets for a ticket or a flat key. The perimeter stitching is fine and runs in the tone of the leather; the edges are sealed, which is what keeps the rim from opening with use.
In use
11 cm wide, 9 cm high and 2 cm thick, 100 grams. It is the kind you can carry in a back pocket and sit on without noticing when you stand up. Six slots cover two bank cards, ID, an insurance card and one loyalty card.
Less room, better use. Leather wears evenly when all of it is used.
