Most wallets are bought with more slots than will ever be used, just in case. The trouble is that an empty slot doesn't stay neutral: leather that never stretches marks differently from leather that does, and two years on the inside is a map of everything you weren't carrying. The Eric has six — what fits in a pocket without bulking.
The leather
Argentine cowhide with a smooth finish. The lining is leather too, not fabric: the slots open and close thousands of times, and a synthetic lining ends up peeling away at the edge. Open it and you see the natural grain of the hide — no two wallets from the same batch share the same pattern.
How it's made
A bifold, with no flaps and no inner layers: three card slots on each side, and nothing else between the leather and your pocket. Behind them, two full-length bill compartments and two flat pockets for a ticket or a flat key. The perimeter stitching is fine and tonal; the edges are sealed, which is what keeps them from splitting open with use.
Living with it
11 cm wide, 9 high and 2 thick, 100 grams. The kind you can carry in a back pocket and sit on without noticing when you stand up. Six slots cover two bank cards, your ID, a work badge and a loyalty card.
Less room, better used. Leather wears evenly when all of it is working.
